Description

Update, Feb. 10th, 2023:

Robert Tree Cody, from his album, "Dreams From The Grandfather," (Canyon Records), and ASCAP hold the copyright to the song, "Lakota Lullaby."

When I checked my video the other day, I saw that it had ads and was being monetized. I am checking into who monetized it, as I have always rejected the offers for ads to play before my video. I'm hoping that it is ASCAP and Robert Tree Cody who are receiving any revenue.

LatinAutorPerf, Polaris Hub AB, and Abramus Digital have claimed copyright of this Lakota song, ostensibly "on behalf of Canyon Records and ASCAP." I will check into this to be sure because there are many reports on the internet of LatinAutorPerf not being legitimate.

Here Is My Original Introduction To This Song:

Lakota songs are so rich, mesmerizing, and hypnotic. I fell deeply in love with this particular Lakota Lullaby when I first heard other artists singing it. It moved my soul.

I am Greek on both sides of my family. Not Lakota. But, I so loved this song that, shortly after hearing it, I was compelled to sit down at my desk in my living room, to sing and record it, spontaneously, from the fullness of joy in my heart, using only my Skype microphone. Compiling the photos to accompany my singing gave me great joy and was a labor of love. I hope you will enjoy the end product.

I want to thank everyone who comes here now, and those who have come before, to listen to my rendition of this lullaby. It fills my heart with joy that so many of you have responded to me, so lovingly, and with such appreciation. I'm so very happy that my singing has touched you or made you feel calmer or lighter. So many of your comments have moved my soul very, very deeply.

Singing is what I love to do more than anything. My soul finds joy and fulfillment through singing. My spirit finds expression, whether the song is a celebratory one, a lullaby, a sad song or chanting -- my spirit flies and deepens when I sing.

To those who are Lakota or who know Lakota, and who can hear that I mispronounce some of the words in this rendition, I apologize from my soul. In my research of this song, I heard a version in which the words were pronounced exactly as I do here -- and this was the version I learned. In further findings, of course, and through many comments here, I came to understand that I wasn't singing all the words correctly. And I've been trying to find the time to sit down and re-record this in the right way... but sometimes life just swells with too many responsibilities that need tending to that the space just doesn't open up -- and that has been the case in my life.

So, the lullaby stands as it is -- flawed, raw... yes, incorrect in places... but sung, with humble sincerity and gratitude and great love, with all my heart and from a pure spirit.

Again, my friends, thank you so much for all your responses. It warms my soul that my voice has been clicked on almost 200,000 times.

It is always my desire to bring light and healing to the world.
