Description
The recent Netflix film Three Of Us, included a beautiful rendition of a Surdas bhajan by Kumarji and Vasundhara tai to indicate the melancholy and turmoil inside the protagonist’s heart, during a pivotal scene in the movie. The bhajan is Surdas’ “Nain Ghat Ghatatana Ek Ghari”, that talks about the melancholy and longing that has reached Braj after Shri Krishna left the region. The poem presents a beautiful description of nature, and how it juxtaposes with a cataclysmic event like Shri Krishna leaving Braj. The rendition of this bhajan by Kumarji and Vasundhara tai brings out the inherent melancholy and the sadness of the poetry and the happenings mentioned therein.
