Description
OneRepublic is an American pop rock band from Colorado. The band was founded in 2002 by Ryan Tedder and Zach Filkins. In 2001, singer Ryan Tedder won a record deal after winning a contest for singers and composers. Things went quickly from that period on. Producer Timbaland called Tedder to ask if he wanted to work with him. Tedder gave up everything and trained himself in producing under the guidance of Timbaland. In 2002, the singer returned to Colorado Springs to visit his childhood friend Zach Filkins. The following year was all about survival. The two wanted to start a band, but that was much more difficult than expected. When they finally succeeded, they were offered a number of record deals, but without success. However, the band got many hits on Myspace. The band's songs were popular with many. As a result, the labels came to them again.
The band signed with Mosley Music Group, Timbaland's record label. Their debut album Dreaming Out Loud, produced by Greg Wells, was released in 2007 on Mosley Music Group. In 2007, the band released their first single, Apologize, but the success was not forthcoming. In the same year, Timbaland released Shock Value, an album that included a remix of the song. It was released as the second international single and Apologize became a worldwide hit, reaching number 1 in the Netherlands, the United States, Europe and the World charts. The second single from the album, Stop and Stare achieved success in the United States, in the Netherlands the song also reached the Top 40. The third and fourth singles were Say (All I Need) and Mercy. Dreaming Out Loud reached gold status in the United States. In 2008 the band toured for 15 months. Early 2009 ideas arose about a second album. The band's second album, Waking Up, was released on November 17, 2009. The first single from the album was All the Right Moves reached the top 10 in several countries. The second single was Secrets and the third Marchin On. Both could not match the success of All the Right Moves. The fourth single Good Life, with a collaboration with rapper B.o.B on the single version, was released in June 2011. Critics were divided about both albums. On September 19, 2012 the band announced that their third studio album would be called Native. On January 8, 2013 the band presented the single If I Lose Myself worldwide as the first single. They also announced at the same time that their new album would be released on March 26, 2013. On February 18, samples were uploaded to YouTube by OneRepublic and the tracklist was also announced.
