Description
This is my instrumental cover of Italian trio Ricchi e Poveri's somewhat cheesy but catchy party song 'Voulez-Vous Danser?', from their 1983 album of the same name (© Baby Records, Italy). The song was written by Cristiano Minellono, Dario Farina and Paolo Cassella. My version was sequenced, recorded and mixed in PreSonus' Studio One 7 Professional DAW.
The following instruments were used:
- Fender Stratocaster (DI): rhythm guitar,
- Korg Kronos: Simmons toms (samples), hi-hats, crash cymbal, timbales and LinnDrum samples (kick, snare, clap and cowbell), DX7 Clav preset (release on carrier operators extended),
- Sequential Prophet-5: synth bass, soft pad, PWM clav (right channel), synth arpeggios in verses and choruses, bass sequence in instrumental break,
- Roland Jupiter-X: string pad in choruses and on end section, square unison lead in instrumental break, string lead on end section,
- Behringer Wave: PWM clav (left channel), bell synth on intro section just before verse 1, bell synth in verses (left channel),
- Arturia Solina V: high strings in end section.
Effects used:
- Arturia JUN-6 chorus (light chorus), DIMENSION-D chorus (2 instances: big chorus and doubler), LX-24 reverb (room and hall algorithms), VCA-65 compressor (mix glue), TUBE-CULTURE distortion (mix saturation),
- PreSonus BeatDelay (2 instances), ProEQ3, Multiband Dynamics (on the mix bus to tame the bass), Spectrum Meter, Limiter2,
- UAD LA-2A compressor (on the drum bus and on the rhythm guitar track),
- YouLean Loudness Meter (free).
